Four UK PPC audit agencies and specialists, Snowball first: who does the work, what each one audits, and how to pick one that says what to fix first.

If you want someone to go through your Google and Meta accounts and tell you exactly what to change first, the UK has a handful of audit-led specialists worth calling. This list covers four: Snowball Creations (that’s us, and yes, we put ourselves first), Search Lucid, AssistPPC and The PPC People. “Top” here means notable and active, not ranked by some league table, and we chose small, audit-focused outfits rather than the big agencies already fighting over this search. Every fact about the other three was read off their own websites on 28 October 2026.

They differ in the ways that matter: who actually does the work, which platforms they’ll look at, whether you pay, and what you’re left holding at the end. One of them may suit your account better than we would, and we’ve tried to make that easy to spot.

The short list

  • Snowball Creations: best for 7-figure SaaS, B2B and homeware e-commerce brands that want Google, Meta, LinkedIn and Microsoft audited together by people who manage accounts that size.
  • Search Lucid: best for a business that wants a fixed-fee Google, Microsoft or ChatGPT Ads audit from one senior consultant, with findings priced in pounds.
  • AssistPPC: best for a Google-only account that needs a senior second opinion, particularly on Shopping and the product feed.
  • The PPC People: best for a smaller Google Ads account that wants a free manual review from an in-house UK team before deciding anything.

Snowball Creations

Snowball Creations is a paid ads agency founded in 2017, working from London and the south coast, with our creative team in Cape Town. We run Google (Search, Shopping, and Performance Max where it earns its place), Meta, LinkedIn, Microsoft, TikTok, Amazon and Wayfair for two kinds of client: founder-led SaaS and B2B companies, and homeware and furniture brands selling their own premium product. We offer two kinds of audit.

The first is a free account audit, booked through our contact page. The second is The Big Audit, for brands that want the whole picture in writing. A senior ads manager, or Max himself, spends a full day inside every ad platform you run, then delivers a written audit within five working days of the intro call, with every fix ranked into this week, the next 30 days and the next 90. We read and never edit, and the manager-account link Google requires can be removed the day the audit lands.

We check what we check in the accounts we manage: tracking first, then brand and non-brand measured apart, search terms, structure, audiences, creative and the spend Performance Max tends to hide. If we’d keep part of your current setup, we say so.

Why They’re a Good Choice

  • Every platform in one audit, so you see how spend splits across Google, Meta, LinkedIn and Microsoft rather than collecting four separate opinions.
  • Checked against the same weekly, monthly and quarterly lever checks we run on our own clients’ accounts.
  • Trusted by 100+ 7-figure+ brands, and Testpad’s Stefan describes our work as “a scientific approach that drills into what does and doesn’t work”.
  • Built around SaaS lead quality and homeware Shopping accounts; see our SaaS paid ads agency and homeware paid ads agency pages.

Search Lucid

Search Lucid is an independent search marketing consultancy in London, run by its founder, Harry Watts. His about page says he has worked in marketing since 2012, and Search Lucid Ltd was incorporated in October 2022. It is a one-person business by design, and he says he will tell you on the intro call if he doesn’t think he can improve on what you already have.

The audit is a fixed-fee review of Google Ads, Microsoft Advertising or ChatGPT Ads, on their own or together. It covers nine areas in a set order, starting with whether the tracking can be trusted at all, then wasted spend, coverage, targeting, landing pages, structure, bidding, ads and competition. Each finding is ranked by what it is worth, in pounds per month where that can be counted, and the document is yours to hand to any provider, with no obligation to hire him afterwards.

Deeper tracking problems are sold separately as a conversion tracking audit, which is a sensible split: the PPC audit gives a verdict on the numbers, the tracking audit repairs them. His about page describes most of his clients as local and consumer-facing.

Why They’re a Good Choice

  • One senior person from first call to final document, with no handoff to someone junior.
  • Findings priced in pounds per month, which makes the order of fixes easy to decide.
  • Audits ChatGPT Ads as well as Google and Microsoft, with checks adapted to a platform that has no keywords.
  • Rated 5.0 on Google reviews, as shown on its site on 28 October 2026.

AssistPPC

AssistPPC is the business of Steven Drummond, who has more than 15 years in Google Ads, Merchant Center and analytics, according to its about page. It sells senior time by the hour, and sits in the myWebHero group alongside a full-service agency and Assist Analytics, a measurement business. The company is registered in England.

There are two ways in. A health check is one hour in your account followed by a 45-minute call that walks you through the biggest problems in order. The full audit is five hours across every campaign type, the tracking and the product feed, written up as a prioritised fix list with a walkthrough call. Both use read-only access, and AssistPPC says it never needs ownership or billing access.

Its audit page is unusually plain about the conflict every auditor has: it says that if your agency is doing a good job it will tell you so, and that the audit is not a sales pitch for management. The scope covers Search, Shopping, Performance Max, Demand Gen, Display and YouTube, plus Merchant Center.

Why They’re a Good Choice

  • Technical scope stated on its site: GA4, Tag Manager, server-side tracking and product feeds.
  • A Google Shopping CSS partner, which matters for e-commerce brands whose problems sit in the feed.
  • A one-hour health check for when you only need to know whether something is wrong.
  • 5.0 from 18 verified reviews on Clutch, as shown on its site on 28 October 2026.

The PPC People

The PPC People is a Google Ads and Microsoft Ads agency in Colchester, Essex, founded in 2018 by its co-founder Andy Youngs. It is part of the Website Design Ltd Group, which it says has been established for over 20 years, and it carries Google Partner status. Its about page says all account work is done in-house in the UK, with an account strategist as each client’s direct contact.

Its audit is a free, manual review of your Google Ads account. You fill in a form, accept an access request, and a write-up of findings arrives within one to two working days, along with a no-obligation quote for management. The agency makes a point of the manual part: its page argues that asking AI to audit an account isn’t much different from applying Google’s own recommendations.

That suits a business with doubts about its current provider that wants a quick second look without paying. Its published management plans are pitched at smaller accounts, so a large multi-platform brand may find the review narrower than it needs.

Why They’re a Good Choice

  • A written review in one to two working days, at no cost.
  • Done by people rather than a tool, with a named strategist if you go on to work together.
  • An in-house UK team, with no overseas outsourcing.
  • No long-term contracts on its management plans.

How to choose a PPC audit agency

Choose the auditor whose findings you can check for yourself. A good audit names the campaign, the date in the change history, the conversion action or the search term behind every point, so you can open the account and see it. Then match the auditor to your account: the platforms you run, the size of the spend, and whether you sell software or sofas.

Questions worth asking before you hand over access

  • Who will actually be inside the account, and for how long?
  • Which platforms are in scope, and will the audit look at how spend splits between them?
  • Will the tracking be checked before any result is judged?
  • Will brand and non-brand be reported separately?

What we look for, and why

How we run accounts: conversion tracking, including offline conversions back to the CRM, goes in before a pound is spent, so an audit that judges results before reading the conversion list has the order wrong. For SaaS and B2B the real question is lead quality, because students, job seekers and free-tool hunters fill in forms too. For homeware we expect Standard Shopping as the base with Performance Max run beside it as an experiment, and an auditor who wants to fold everything into one PMax campaign deserves a follow-up question.

Brand matters as well. We keep brand campaigns separate and small, about a twentieth of a SaaS budget, and never count brand conversions as growth, which is why a brand campaign can flatter an account. Be wary of an audit whose first fix is doubling the budget: we never more than double an account’s spend inside a single month. And treat platform reps’ advice with suspicion: it is written for the platform’s revenue, as we explain in how to undo Google ad rep advice.

Free or paid

Free audits are free because the auditor hopes to win the account, ours included. That doesn’t make them worthless; weigh them on evidence. A paid audit takes away some of that pull and usually goes deeper, which earns its keep on a large or multi-platform account. Either way, an audit is a snapshot. The setup is a fraction of the job, and the money is made in the weekly, monthly and quarterly lever checks that follow.

After the audit: fix it, hand it over or hire

A useful audit leaves you with three options: fix the list yourself, give it to your current agency, or bring in someone new. If a renewal is coming up, our guide to what an independent paid ads audit should cover sets out the checks in order, and how to switch agencies without losing your account history covers the move if it comes to that. If you’re not sure an agency is the right model at all, start with should I use a paid ads agency.

If you’d rather hand the work over, our breakdown of what a PPC agency costs in the UK explains how agency fees are usually set, and our paid advertising agency page shows how we run accounts once the audit is done.

Pick the auditor who’d be happy to be checked

The best PPC audit is the one you can verify line by line and act on the next morning. Snowball suits 7-figure SaaS, B2B and homeware brands running several platforms; Search Lucid and AssistPPC each give you one senior specialist; The PPC People gives a smaller Google account a free, quick second look. Whoever you choose, ask for the evidence behind every finding and the order to fix them in.

If you’d like us to look at yours, book a free account audit and we’ll tell you what we’d change first, and what we’d leave well alone.

FAQ

Questions people ask

What access should I give a PPC auditor in Google Ads?

Read only is usually enough. Google's access levels help page, read on 28 October 2026, says read-only users can view campaigns, run performance reports and see users, managers and product links, but cannot edit campaigns. Keep admin access on your side. Some auditors, us included, read Google accounts through a manager-account link instead, which you can remove once the audit is delivered.

Can my current agency stop me getting an independent audit?

Not if you own the account, because an admin on your side can add the auditor directly. Google's third-party policy, read on 28 October 2026, requires agencies to give customers their Google Ads customer IDs when asked, and lists putting undue pressure on an advertiser to stay with an agency as untrustworthy behaviour.

How far back can an auditor see what my agency changed?

Two years, on Google Ads. Google's change history help page, read on 28 October 2026, says the tool lists changes from the past two years and shows who made each change through the interface. The same page warns that some account-level setting changes, and changes made by Google representatives during consultations, may not appear.

Should I tell my current agency I am getting an audit?

Usually, yes. If you own the account you do not need their permission, but a good agency will answer each finding with its reasoning, and sometimes that reasoning is sound. Hearing both sides is how an audit becomes a decision rather than an argument. If they object to being checked at all, that tells you something too.

How much do I need to spend for an audit to be worth doing?

There is no official threshold. For context, we take on management from a minimum ad spend of £2,500 a month per platform. Below that, in our experience, a full audit has too little data to say much with confidence, and a short health check is usually the better buy.
